Angstrom-Prescott Type Models for Predicting Solar Irradiation for Different Locations in Zimbabwe

Adequate assessment of solar radiation data is crucial for planning and designing energy systems. However, a major challenge facing technologies the availability at specific area interest. In this paper sunshine duration from 29 stations in Zimbabwe were used to generate both monthly annual Angstrom-Prescott (A-P) type coefficients, b, that are location based. The coefficients developed using linear correlation between clearness index duration. adaptation relationship satellite ground-measured irradiation had an R2 0.6738. most was fairly high with highest coefficient determination, R2, 0.9030. A-Pregression coefficient, a, generated each station ranged 0.2252 0.3976, whereas regression 0.3218 0.6265. estimated measured values global radiation, He, Hm, respectively compared mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), root square (RMSE), (MAE) relative standard (RSE). MAE models 0.5438 MJ/m2 2.2845 MJ/m2. MAPE indicated range 2.5642 % 10.334 %. RSE 0.0346 0.1537% while RMSE 0.7360 2.9454 statistical indicators showed results within recommended predicting similar studies.
